Where has the year gone?!?!

I can't believe 2009 is almost over! As I get older, the years go by so much quicker! :)

I have so many exciting things planned for The {Stamps} of Life. On the first of Jan., our new stamp set will be revealed and then on the 7th, there will be an announcement for our Club Members and then on the 11th, there will be an announcement for everyone. :) Lots going on! :)

We had a wonderful Christmas at our home. My parents spent the night, we went to the Christmas Eve service at our church and then we woke up at a reasonable hour the next morning to open presents. I hope you had as wonderful of a day!

Vicki created a great Christmas scrapbooking layout using our digital stamps. Isn't it cute?!?

Shake it Up! Stamping Project Sheet

While browsing through the gallery, I ran across an incredible card. I just had to know more about it and contacted the creator. The stamper, Gilbert, was gracious enough to create an INCREDIBLE project sheet for me to share with you! Here's the card...

Joy2Christmas Gallery Slideshow and....

As I write this blog post, I'm sitting in my office watching YouTube videos with my hubby and oldest daughter. (Little one is in bed...it's 10:48pm).

Taylor Swift is my current fav...her song Love Story touches my heart and reminds me of when hubby and I met (he was 18 I was 16).

I also love Taylor's You Belong with Me. My oldest loves to mock me with this one....I was the band geek in high school and she is the varsity cheerleader. ;) If you aren't familiar with these, look them up. :)

I'm excited to share this slideshow with you. Christmas is a very special time of year for my family and I love looking at the great cards you all created! The slideshow is kind of fast, but don't forget, you can see all the creations in the gallery by clicking here.

On another note, remember when I mentioned my little one's hair for her dance competitions? Well, here's a photo...

This isn't the best picture (taken with my iPhone), but it shows what I have to do! It's FIVE huge rolls of hair. NO CURLERS! Just hair, gel, hairspray and bobby pins. Can you say CRAZY?!?!?!

I'm not good with hair...I'm really not. So, I got creative...I cut a toilet paper roll into thirds, gelled the hair like crazy and wrapped the hair around it and pinned it in place. We let it dry for three hours and then carefully pulled the tp roll out. NICE! I'll get a better pic when she competes again. :)

Gift Idea for Your Carpool Kids or....

Sometimes you need a little gift for some of the people in your life. Here's a project I'm creating for my middle school carpool kids. It's a quick and easy project (get your kids to help!) and will be enjoyed by all. ;)

So Forgetful! Yikes!

Sometimes, life gets REALLY busy. So busy, in fact, that you forget to do things you always do. Like picking up a kid from school, or eating lunch. (Yes, I forget to eat lunch all the time...I don't think I've ever forgot a kid, but you'll have to ask one of them...) {grin}

So, what did I recently forget? Well, to choose Gallery Winners! Yikes! So, today, I went to the Joy2Christmas Gallery {Wowsers! There are some GREAT ideas there!} and I randomly chose a clear stamp winner and a gallery winner. And, here they are....

In other news, my two daughters each had competitions this last weekend.

The older one, the cheerleader, took second place on Saturday and first place on Sunday! Go, Aliso High School Varsity Cheer! :)

The younger one, the dancer, took first place on Sunday! Go, SouthCoast Freestyle! :)

We were proud parents this weekend! I'll look for some pictures soon to share Katie's hair do. It's INSANE! :)

Happy Thanksgiving 2009

I have so much to be Thankful for. I have been blessed with an incredible husband, two beautiful daughters, parents that have stood by me through thick and thin, and a great group of FRIENDS!

I count all of you as one of my blessings. The last few months have been AMAZING! Not even in my WILDEST dreams did I expect to be doing what I'm doing right now. I am so happy! :)

Another Episode of a 30 Second Card

I'll be honest. When I first started this video series, I did think I could make a card in {about} 30 seconds. Yes, I really I thought I could. :)

Little did I know...

1. How popular this series would be.
2. That I have NO concept of time.
3. That I can make people laugh....(but is it AT me or WITH me?!?!)

So, without anymore waiting, I present the next episode...ok, you have to wait one more moment... I have to say, I've also learned to NOT use pigment ink when taping my 30 second card video episodes. You'll soon see that pigment ink is S-L-O-W to dry. (That's why it's a decent embossing ink...)

So, if you try this at home, don't use pigment ink. Really. You'll soon see why....

Color Challenge Time!

(These color names are Prism Papers Colors names. You do not have to use Prism Papers for the challenge).



Let's take our Christmas Cards to the next level with these non-traditional colors!!!


The November Color Challenge begins today! Players
will have until the 28th to post their cards using any of The {Stamps} of Life stamps or digital images to the Challenge Gallery.

Players must include TSOLC02 in their upload titles to be entered to win a
December release stamp set (US & Canada) or the November release Digi set and their choice of another Digi set (International players or US players can choose 2 Digi sets instead of stamps). Random winners will be announced on November 30th.

On a personal note, my daughter's Homecoming Dance was a success! I was the photographer for about 30 kids at a private party {ON the BEACH!} Fun! One of my daughter's friends was kind enough to take our picture....{I wish I could share with you WHO took the picture, but I have to sleep in the same house as my teenager and I'd fear for my life if I told you!} {grin} ha ha...{BIG grin}...

New {Free} Project Tutorial!

Life is busy at our house! Between calling new Club Members, I'm busy getting my oldest daughter, Kirstin ready for Homecoming season. She's now a Varsity Cheerleader at our local high school (3200 students!), so she's busy with her team creating posters, banners and getting the 'perfect' dress for the Homecoming Dance. (Ahhh...to be young again!)

In Stamping News, Design Team member, Vicki Garrett has created the most adorable Paper Pieced Pumpkin Card Tutorial. She took photos for each step, so you can follow along!

Another 30 Second Card {in 5 Minutes}

A New Segment...{Life with Stephanie}

A Club Member's Card

One of my all time favorite things about my job is seeing what stampers create with my stamps! So when Club Member, Janine Verster from Washington, emailed me a photo of her first creation with her new stamps, I was thrilled!

I had a few questions and I thought it would be a good idea to answer them here, as well.

Question: I live outside of the US and Canada...(in the UK), can I purchase your digital items?
Answer: YES! ANYONE can purchase the digital items we offer. AND, you can participate in the digital contests. :)

Here are two digital examples by our very own design team member, Jeanne Streiff. In both cards, she used the digital images to make larger images than the original clear stamp size!

Imagine the possibilities of making the images smaller or a bit larger! Wow!

Another Question: What type of digital files will I get?

Answer: You get each image, three ways! In jpg, png and as Photoshop brushes. If you are new to digital, the jpgs will be your friend. If you are a pro, then you will love the Photoshop brushes. You get all three types, so the choice is yours!

I want to become a Club Member…what are the benefits?

Well, the best benefit is that you’ll be cool if you join! {grin} Another great benefit is the price! You SAVE money! You can’t beat that! AND you get your stamps before anyone else that’s not in the club! Club Members get their stamps sent out FIRST! WOO HOO! Oh, and you get a cool little blinkie saying you are a Club Member to put on your blog/website and on message boards.

What is The {Stamps} of Life’s Angel Policy?

Clear Stamps: We allow crafters who individually hand make finished items for resale to use our clear stamp designs as long as the quantity manufactured or sold of any given design is handmade and does not exceed 200 pieces. If possible, please credit ‘The {Stamps} of Life’ somewhere on each creation. We do not allow our designs to be used in any type of mass manufacturing process, whether this be via mechanical, photographic or handmade means. Digital files: are for your personal use only. If you wish to use our digital items in your commercial work, please contact us to purchase a commercial license. When sharing your work on the internet in galleries, message boards, etc., please link to our website, www.TheStampsofLife.com so others can find our great products. :)

How do you ship my stamps to me?

We send them via the US Post Office, First Class. We’ve found this method to be the most economical and pretty fast. It usually takes up to five working days to get your stamps to you, but most times, it’s quicker! And the price! You can’t beat our shipping prices!

I live in CA, why do I have to pay sales tax?!?

Well, it’s the price you pay for living in our great state. Stephanie lives in CA too, and it’s what happens when you live in the same state as the company you order from. AND, our state needs the funds. Bad. But yuck, no more politics talk….too boring!

What type of digital files do you sell?

When you purchase the digital version of our stamps, you receive the jpg, png AND the abr files which are Photoshop brushes. We send you all three, so you can decide how to use them. Just a note about the files, they are sized just like our clear stamps, SO, if you enlarge them too much, they will lose their crispness. Keep this in mind, when you are creating. Digital files are for your personal use only. If you wish to use our digital items in your commercial work, please contact us to purchase a commercial license.

Hey, I thought Stephanie worked for (or owned) Inque Boutique?!?

Stephanie did not own inque. She ran most of the company (others might argue that point, but the previous owner won’t!), but she did not own it. Sadly, the owner decided to retire and the products were sold. As a company, inque no longer exists and the stamps are getting harder and harder to find in stores. If you are looking for a particular set, try eBay.

New Stamp News...Coming Soon!

I've been busy behind the scenes, getting ready for the big debut. ;) Tune in on Sept. 1st!

In other news....
My oldest just started driving....yikes! She's actually a very good driver, but I still make her text me when she gets wherever she is going.....just so I know she is still in one piece! {grin} Will I ever get over being a nervous Mom?!?

Just had a birthday...next year is a big one. This year was nice and quiet. Ken had the day off and the rule for the day was everyone had to do what I wanted to do. We walked around Laguna Beach, got some yummies and went to a nice dinner. With the kid's activities, just spending time together as a family is a real treat.

We still have three more weeks before school starts, but my youngest is already searching online for the 'perfect' book bag {Mom, backpacks are so NOT cool....} and my oldest is busy with AP Science homework. What is up with homework during the summer?!?

Well, I better get back to stamping....errr, I mean work....{grin!} I can't wait to share with you my secret!!!

My Two Loves Meet.....

It's no secret that I've been spending lots of time on photography. With two different photography businesses going, I've been keeping busy!

But, stamping is in my blood. It really is. I itch when I realize I haven't gotten ink on my fingers lately. So, I've decided to combine my two loves. (Without ink!)

Here are a few photos with some stamps added......(Yes, I created these stamps! However, in Photoshop, technically, they are called brushes...)

So, what do you think? I think it's a marriage made in heaven! ;) Digital stamps and photographs. Although, I'm thinking I still need these as real stamps. Stamps that I can stamp into ink and get that high I get from creating a masterpiece. {grin}
Can I let you in on a little secret? Promise not to tell anyone?!?

Hmmmm....maybe I should wait.....I know....I should create a video to share my new secret.....THAT'S IT! That's what I'll do.... ;)

Model Search!!!

Hi Everyone!

The photography side of my life is going really well! I have expanded to High School Seniors and have FIVE seniors scheduled for the next two weeks. :) (all girls...isn't that funny!?!)

Anyway, I'm finding myself with lots of new ideas for props/poses etc., and I need a few models.

I'm currently looking for newborn twins. {FUN!} They would need to be under 10 days old, so if you (or someone you know) is currently pregnant with twins, (and in Southern Ca willing to travel to Laguna Niguel) PLEASE CONTACT ME!!!! (more details below).

I'm also looking for a six to seven year old little girl. (I have the best props just waiting to be used!!!) Again, you must be willing to come to Laguna Niguel, CA.

Wow, it's been a long time....

I can't believe how long it's been since I've updated this blog. Thank you so much to those of you that have emailed me and asked me what I've been up to. :)

Well, I've been busy. When life gives you lemons...well, you know.... {grin}

Artistic Medley is going well. I'll be honest, slower than we expected, but with this economy, many stores just aren't interested in new products. But, we are making contacts and proving ourselves to our clients. Eventually, everything will pick up.

Since I've had free time on my hands, I've finally taken the jump to become a 'pro' photographer. The website is up and clients are starting to call. :)

It's interesting, because I've always dealt with companies/editors/etc. and now I'm dealing with the local public. I'm just thrilled that I've found another creative outlet....as long as I can CREATE, I'm happy.

Am I still stamping and scrapbooking? Of course! Just not everyday.

The most important thing is finding something that makes you happy. And I have. I've re-discovered my love for my family. I've re-discovered old friends. And I've found a new way to be creative. I'm so blessed.

Just the other day, I was photographing a six day old baby. During the photoshoot, I paused for just a moment, and realized how incredibly happy I was feeling. It was such a joyous moment for me. {Ok, I'm such a sap!} {grin}
